The You That Is In It is an installation comprising works on paper and an audio walking tour that was on exhibit at the Irish Museum of Modern Art from June 2008 until March 2009. Fiona Hallinan was commissioned to create this piece by IMMA and the curator Ian Russell, who was working on behalf of the World Archaeological Congress to curate a contemporary visual arts programme entitled Abhar agus Meon. You can read more about the programme here.

The You That Is In It excavates the hidden histories of the Royal Hospital of Kilmainham, which houses the Irish Museum of Modern Art, and explores notions of artistic process through the medium of a short walk leading participants out of the gallery space into the surrounds of the gallery. Hallinan commissioned sound artist and musician Caoimhin O'Raghallaigh to score the audio walk. Each participant is given a work on paper bearing illustrations created by the artist during the process of designing the tour. They are instructed to fold this into a pyramid shape and hold it throughout the walk, as a talisman for their journey.

The audio piece and work on paper have been created specifically for the site at IMMA. As the exhibition in which they appeared, Self as Selves, has now ended, the tour is no longer available to partake in there. If you wish to download the audio and take the tour yourself, you can make an enquiry by contacting Hallinan at fionahallinan (at) gmail (dot) com .
