Work Place
Yessir I got a new studio to work in. It is up in the attic of The Joy Gallery and there I draw, write and organise shows for the space below. Come visit! Or, if you'd like to put on a show in the gallery sometime get in touch at thejoygallery (at) redspace (dot) cc and we can hatch great plans together!

Dot-Dash
I recently did the drawings for the cover of Dot-Dash, a new record that is a collaborative recording from You're Only Massive and Queen Kong. The album got some great reviews, including four stars from The Irish Times and "Irish album of the year" from The Sunday Tribune.

Summer is Over
Summer has happened.
I made real foxes creep up with my dear friend Alex Synge in Cork.
There was Berlin and Prague and friends' faces.

The launch of The Joy Gallery

RedSpace and The Joy
I'm involved in setting up a new artist-run gallery space near Parnell Square in Dublin. The gallery, called The Joy is on the ground floor of this building, which is collectively named Red Space. It houses a rehearsal room, artists' studios, desk spaces and a recording studio. I'm curating some events to come in the gallery space and this launch on August 12th called Take a Picture It'll Last Longer. The launch will consist entirely of ephemeral artworks, so performance, sound art, discussion, live music, projection and relational art events that unfold over time and leave no trace but their documentation. We are hoping through this event to formulate a clearer manifesto for the gallery, which so far we have defined solely as being non profit and engaged with experimental and new media art. If you'd like to submit ideas, proposals or expressions of interest send them on to thejoygallery (at) redspace (dot) cc
Limerick City Gallery of Art Residency

This August I took up a residency at the Limerick City Gallery of Art. As part of a programme called Contemporary. Artists Explore. Gallery as Studio, I was there from August 14th to 28th working in an open studio in the gallery. People were welcome to come in and say hello and ask about what I was making, most of which were trinkets and drawings like these for my then-upcoming show People are Nature Too

I also got to play around with and develop a new live drawing and storytelling technique using found items, darkness and digital camera and projector to make something that looks a little like this:

The You That Is In It is a walking tour and work on paper currently installed in the Irish Museum of Modern Art. It will be available there until January 2009. The tour was created in collaboration with Caoimhin O'Raghallaigh and jointly commissioned by IMMA and Dr. Ian Russell as part of Abhar agus Meon, an exhibition of contemporary art held to coincide with the Sixth World Archaeological Congress. There will be a launch for The You That Is In It in IMMA on September 19th 2008.
