The Life and Times of Virginia Mountweazel

The Life and Times of Virginia Mountweazel was a group exhibition curated by Davey Moor at Monstertruck Gallery and Studios in Dublin, 2009.

Hallinan's work, pictured here and entitled Mountweazels, comprised a comprehensive collection of every corn snack found on the island of Ireland in 2009 displayed with a found text inside a museum display case accompanied by a three-part text on experience written by P. Bresnihan, and a drawing by the artist.

This work has since been re-sonfigured and exhibited at the exhibition you remind me of a poem I can't remember, to a tune that might never have existed, in a place I'm not sure I've ever been to, also curated by Davey Moor.

The found text displayed inside the vitrine is a short story describing the fleeting encounter of a commuter with the fictional character of Virginia Mountweazel at a petrol station in Urlingford. As she describes to him the history of maize production in a monotonous way, he drifts off and begins to question the narrative of his own life.
